Technical FAQ

Engineer-level questions

What's the recommended ventilation?

The AEON Laser Super NOVA 16S is a premium industrial CO₂ laser cutting and engraving system designed for businesses that require maximum production efficiency, larger material capacity, and advanced features. Built for high-volume manufacturing, custom fabrication, and professional production environments, the Super NOVA 16S combines a large-format workspace with AEON's most advanced configurations.

Super NOVA 16S vs NOVA 16S

The Super NOVA 16S includes several advanced features designed specifically for production environments, including:

  • Dual Tube Configurations
  • Upgraded Industrial Motion System
  • Seamlessly Switch Between Lasers
  • Greater Efficiency
  • Increased Engraving Speed from 1,500 to 5000 mm/s max
Whats is the MOPA fiber source?

A MOPA fiber source uses adjustable pulse width and frequency settings to provide greater control over how laser energy is delivered to a material. When integrated into a gantry system, it combines this versatility with a large processing area, enabling high-quality marking, engraving, color marking on stainless steel, other metals, and reduced heat impact on sensitive materials. The gantry design supports large-format parts, high-speed production, and automation, making it an ideal solution for industrial applications that require both precision and productivity.

What materials can be cut and engraved?

The Super NOVA 16S can cut and engrave a wide range of non-metallic materials, including:

  • Wood and Plywood
  • Acrylic
  • Leather
  • Paper and Cardboard
  • Rubber
  • Fabric and Textiles
  • Cork
  • Glass (engraving only)
  • Stone and Slate (engraving only)

The laser can also mark coated or treated metals when used with the appropriate settings. PVC and similar chlorine-based plastics should never be processed due to hazardous fumes.

Glass DC vs. RF Tubes?

A Glass DC tube and an RF (Radio Frequency) tube both generate laser energy but use different methods to create plasma. Glass DC tubes use internal electrodes powered by direct current, while RF tubes use radio frequency energy and typically have no electrodes in the discharge region. RF tubes deliver superior beam quality, greater stability, and faster pulsing, resulting in sharper details, finer text, cleaner edges, and overall higher engraving quality, especially for intricate designs and precision marking applications. Glass DC tubes, with their typically higher power output, are often better suited for cutting applications where speed and material penetration are the primary requirements. As a result, RF tubes are preferred for high-quality engraving, while DC tubes are commonly chosen for cutting-focused applications.

Who is the Super NOVA 16S best suited for?

The Super NOVA 16S is ideal for:

  • Sign Manufacturing Companies
  • Acrylic Fabrication Businesses
  • Production Woodworking Shops
  • Product Customization Companies
  • Awards and Trophy Manufacturers
