6 Reasons to consider EMP Laser over competitors

EMP opted to build its fiber galvo lasers to a superior spec, and we did so with performance, ease of use, and long term reliability in mind.

Better Scan Head

We did our research and opted to go with a scan head that offers more reliability and more repeatability than the SINO scan head, a popular competitor.

Quality Moving Parts

The only moving part in a fiber laser is the Galvo head, mirrors, and servos. Our higher quality parts make a big difference in long term performance and reliability.

Better Optics

The scan head in the EMP lasers has a high quality mirror, which ensures maximum uptime and the best process speeds and quality.

Full Option Board

The full option unit allows for better performance, a foot pedal attachment, a rotary, onboard memory, better reliability, and LightBurn integration.

Integrated Exhaust Fan

The optional Integrated Exhaust Fan is unintrusive and keeps your work area and air clean. It plugs right into your laser and can be controlled from the Smart Key pad.

Task Ring Light

The optional Task Ring Light attaches to your laser and lets you see what you are engraving with exceptional clarity. Great for making TikToks and videos!

FAQ

The major differences between JPT and Raycus has to do with the pulse width and the frequency available for each.

Generally speaking a JPT source will allow more control over the beam and allow for whiter whites on aluminum, darker blacks on steels, and brighter colors on plastics. If the goal is to have brighter colors on polymers or have darker colors on steels than a JPT is well worth the upgrade.

If you simply want to dig into metal with an engrave, or just do some simple names on tools, either is a great option.

A MOPA (Master Oscillator Power Amplifier) fiber laser has several advantages that make it suitable for various applications compared to other types of lasers. Here are some key advantages:

1.Pulse Duration Control: MOPA lasers offer precise control over pulse duration. This is particularly important in applications where the laser needs to produce pulses of specific lengths. The ability to control pulse duration allows for better customization and optimization of the laser for specific tasks.

2.Peak Power Control: MOPA lasers enable control over the peak power of the laser pulses. This feature is crucial in applications such as material processing, where different materials may require different levels of peak power for optimal results.

3.Flexible Pulse Repetition Rates: MOPA lasers can have flexible pulse repetition rates. This flexibility is advantageous in applications where the laser needs to operate at varying speeds or frequencies.

4.Pulse Energy Scalability:MOPA lasers can be designed to scale pulse energy while maintaining a consistent pulse shape. This scalability is beneficial in applications that require varying levels of energy for different tasks.

30W is fantastic for most engraving that isn't deep, but anytime you want to go deep or cut thin metals (e.g. aluminum foil, pennies, etc) you will usually want a smaller lens and 50W or higher power.

The difference in power is important when trying to do deep engraving, coins, cutting very thin metals, etc. It is also important as lenses get wider. Essentially you need much more power if you want to go wider, so if you want to engrave a 300mm wide object, it will require way more power than if you are trying to do a 150mm object.

Here is the technical explanation: Light follows the inverse square law, so as area doubles the intensity of light is a function of the square root of that. Not important that you know the math, but this photo should clear it up.

Upgrade options for the 30W and 50W are the Integrated Exhaust Fan, Ring Task Light and Rotary Devices.

Yes. The Integrated Exhaust Fan and Ring Task Light can be purchased separately and added to any EMP fiber laser.

The 60W JPT MOPA and 100W JPT MOPA models include the LED logo and Smart Keys. The 30W and 50W models do not.

The LED logo is both aesthetically pleasing and shows the status of the machine. It turns red when operating and white when on standby.

Smart Keys are basically shortcuts mounted on the machine itself. They allow you to Frame, Start and Stop a job. They also serve as the on/off buttons for the exhaust fan and task light IF you get the MOPA models. The Raycus models will not have any of these features, but you will be able to add the fan and light which will then have on/off buttons installed on the cables themselves, similar to a desk lamp.

EMP Fiber lasers are compatible with the following Aeon compatible rotaries: PiBurn, RotoBoss, Rotary Chuck, and Smart Roller Rotary. It is not compatible with the Multi Roller.

Because a galvo laser can move so quickly, the ability to have more power is usually a nice thing to have as we can go faster for the given job and still deliver the same engrave. Galvos go over the same area over and over again to produce the job or cut desired, so having the increase in power shortens the timeframe required to complete the task.

Whether or not the wattage will perform to your liking, largely depends on your application and desired cycle times. The most common reason for increasing the wattage is to perform deep engraves in less time.

Annealing steels produce a black color on the surface and is much easier to do on a JPT source unit.

A standard fiber laser can not achieve colors. However, MOPA lasers can be used for creating color markings on metals. By adjusting pulse parameters, including pulse duration, MOPA lasers can generate a wider range of colors compared to traditional fiber lasers.

Yes, you can increase the field size by opting for a taller vertical column and a lens with a larger field size. It ends up being roughly a 12" x 12" work area, and while not as powerful of a beam, still produces excellent results.
